Under the direction of the Head of IT, the Cisco Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, architecture and deployment (after formal testing) of Cisco devices, Citrix environments, and storage area networks, globally.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting Cisco devices including, but not limited to, routers, firewalls, IPS / IDS, switches, wireless solutions and VOIP throughout the organization's global network.
Design, configuration, diagnosis and troubleshooting of Citrix Netscaler.
Design, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting virtualized servers and clients.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues with key network infrastructure components including storage and LAN/WAN technologies.
Innovate, design and document infrastructure solutions that provide maximum support for supporting business applications and operations and minimize the potential for issues, downtime and data loss. Plan for development, testing and deployment and work with other members of the IT team to execute each approved initiative.
As appropriate and/or when assigned to do so, perform maintenance and support tasks on infrastructure components including server, storage and network devices as well as associated platform and other software.
Analyze data generated by hardware and other systems components to identify issues and opportunities for optimization as well as to monitor for overall health and stability.
Liaise with currently contracted and potential vendors to ensure that MPAA's requirements and priorities are represented accurately, that all applicable confidentiality and other policy considerations are maintained and that MPAA receives appropriate levels of service and support.
Document network configurations and apply appropriate change control procedures
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 (ten) years' experience working in a multi domain Windows network.
Strong Cisco experience (CCNA required; CCNP preferred).
Strong Citrix System Administration and troubleshooting knowledge.
Strong VMware Administration and troubleshooting skills.
Strong Windows Active Directory knowledge.
Qualifications
Must possess the highest level of work ethics and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information.
Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
Must possess the ability to organize workload effectively, function as an effective team player and adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
Must possess strong verbal, written and graphical communication skills.
Ability to travel via airplane.
Ability to participate in on-call rotation.
Preferred knowledge/skills
Experience with Citrix Netscaler.
Experience with Solar Winds System Monitoring application.
Experience with storage solutions including Nimble, NEXSAN and Dell.
Experience with SIEM systems.
Knowledge of Veeam data backup solution.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking protocols.
Experience with System Center Configuration Manager and Operations Manager.
Analysis skills sufficient to assess and compare hardware and platform options for servers and supporting platform software - including the ability to review and analyze vendor proposals and to contribute to ROI analysis
