The Systems Analyst (SA) will be assigned primarily to analyze, document for the first time and/or update and maintain already existing narrative documentation, diagrams and/or schemas for technical systems and architectures. As a secondary role, the SA will also manage technical and/or business application projects - overseeing (and sometimes delivering personally) applicable project phases from initial scoping to production implementation and deployment and, when applicable, acting as a liaison from the IT Department to the business team/s.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Systems Analysis and Documentation:
For existing and new environments and systems: understanding operating systems, computer hardware and software platforms, network architectures and systems configurations. Must have sufficient breadth of experience and be at a proficiency level sufficient to analyze, document and/or maintain documentation of workflows, network architectures and topologies, server and workstation commissioning and de-commissioning models, technical support documents, IT configurations and technical standards. Deliverables (developed using Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Word and other applicable or designated tools) will need to be complete in all aspects and of a quality standard that ensures that MPAA team members or other resources tasked with building, modifying and/or supporting the environments and systems which are the subjects of the documentation are able to do so safely with absolute precision and confidence.
For potential new initiatives: supporting IT project assessment and intake processes by gathering and defining high level requirements needed to provide the IT team and/or business area management with an initial understanding of the technical scope and business needs.
For approved projects: capturing technical requirements and documenting both technical specifications and test criteria to support optimal design and development of the roadmap for testing and implementation. Also, when appropriate, capturing and documenting business requirements and use cases.
Other duties as assigned.
Project Management including Customer Relationship Management:
As directed, acting as the IT team liaison and primary point of contact to assigned business teams that are associated with assigned projects. Conveying business imperatives, fleshed out requirements and any issues to the IT team and communicating applicable information regarding IT services, project deliverables and other applicable matters to the business owners.
Developing and communicating project plans (using Microsoft Project or another designated tool.)
Providing project frameworks, pricing and other detailed information required for negotiation, contracting, legal and administrative purposes - including feasibility studies on systems, tools and techniques.
Managing applicable project phases - attending and/or facilitating project meetings as needed as well as preparing and delivering project overviews, project updates and regular status reports.
Developing, seeking approval for, managing and monitoring budget for assigned projects.
Managing assigned project personnel, including MPAA team members, contractors and vendors as applicable. Ensuring that requirements for billing, sign-off of invoices (within agreed parameters), oversight of time management and time tracking by project resources are delivered consistently.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 (five) recent years as at least a mid-level dedicated Systems Analyst or as a Project Manager with systems analysis and documentation responsibilities.
Must have a minimum of 3 (three) years' experience authoring, interpreting and updating technical documentation including process and workflows, network architectures and topologies, server and workstation commissioning and de-commissioning models, technical support documents, IT configurations and technical standards.
Must have experience with systems administration, application development, technical support, network administration or some other technical role.
Must have a minimum of 4 (four) years' Project Management experience - managing teams of at least 3 people including technical and business-oriented personnel and with some responsibility for business analysis within assigned projects.
Formal Systems Analyst and/or PMI/PMP certification preferred.
Qualifications
Must possess the highest level of work ethics and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information.
Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency using Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Experience creating or interpreting artefacts developed using other hardware/architecture/software documentation tools such as Enterprise Architect and methodologies such as UML would be a definite plus.
Must have at least a good understanding of the other components of the Microsoft Office suite (including at least mid-level proficiency with Microsoft Project and SharePoint). Experience with Microsoft SQL Server would be a plus.
Must have experience working in both IT-centric and business environments - ideally having acted in an Account management or business liaison role.
Must have in-depth experience delivering and managing both technical and business application full life-cycle projects with major technical components, including all phases and aspects.
Must have a proven history of delivering successful projects within agreed timeframes and budgets both as an individual contributor and as a manager overseeing project resources.
Must have experience with gap analysis, vendor evaluation and selection, vendor management and service level monitoring.
Must have experience developing, explaining and managing project budgets and business cases.
